Does any one know what the problem can be.
I have a 3.0 607 with everything. It has a Nav Tec built in Sat Nav original 2001 version. Last week it was talking to me. Now it is silent. I have checked the setting, the mute is off. It is silent whether I try the male or female voice. I have checked the wiring and its all conected. When I set the navigation system everything still works namely when on radio or CD the sat nav still interupts everytime but no sound comes out. The screen still shows all that it should. Its Bl***y annoying. I am aware that normally a silent female backseat driver giving me instructions would be a lot of mens dream but there are times when its needed. Can anyone help? |

Hi, I have had a problem like this before and it took me a while to realise what had happenned. The volume controls for the SAT and the radio/CD player are independent of each other. I adjusted my volume level down for what I thought was the radio, but I must have adjusted it just as the SAT NAV cut in. Try using the radio and then setting the SAT NAV too. Immediately the SAT NAV interrupts the radio adjust the volume on the control stalk. You may be suprised...I was!!

Cheers Thomps, I needed the sat nav yesterday in London so I set it, started my journey and waited for it to cut in. When the CD went off I used the column controls to set the volume.
Surprise! It was set at 21 where as the CD was set at 8. I turned it down to 10. The backseat driver started talking to me, after telling her to be quiet the sat nav then took up the comentary. Initially the sat nav was intermittant but later on in the journey it came on everytime. The sound only comes out of the passenger speakers but I can live with that. Unless some one knows how to cure that as well (CD & radio come out of both). Thanks for the advice. |

No problem, I am glad that I could be of help. I am no expert, just a 607 user with 200K miles in one under my belt.....and a happy user too. I have experienced many things but still some things are new. You are fortunate that in this instance your problem is among the ones that I have experienced. I am no expert on the technicalities although I will have a look for you...perhaps the balance control is independent of the radio too!

Guess what happened today?
That woman on the sat nav stopped talking to me again. I am begining to think that I'm being blancked (just like being at home); I think there is a loose conection somewhere because the sound comes back occassionally. Does any one know where the wiring goes and which conection it could be. This might also explain the total lack of sat nav sound from the right speaker. |
