Default Just got my first 607

I'm new in this forum, so.....HI ALL !!!

I really like the know-how of this forum , because i have really had a stomachache since i bought my new car.

The car is a 607 2.2 Petrol 160BHP Titane 12/2004. it has all the parts from the 2005 face lift, but not the new fog lights and chrome fittings on the side, but it has the electric boot open/close function flip mirrors and so on !!

I Really love this car, but i read more and more bad things about it on the net, so i got really afraid. Is it a bucket of faults ?? is the 2004 more or less reliable then say 2000-2003 models ?? i rally hope to get my mind at ease, because I'm afraid to lose bundles of money each month on repairs. plus i want to go on loooong trips this Summer in Europe, and don't want to Waite for the AA on the motorway half way through Europe.

Besides that the car is great....i have the "Engine Anti-pollution defective" message and the engine icon on the dash panel, but this forum showed me that "no worries". i have 6 month guarantee , so i will have them fix it this week. Every thing else works like mint on the car. not one problem so far "knock on wood". I just got my son 6 month ago, and i want him to be as safe as possible (one of the reasons that i got the 607, incredible safety score this has). So anyone...be true....is it a good buy ( it has 100.000km on the clock (70.000miles), and i also have a 200.000km engine guarantee (125.000miles)from my main dealer ) Service book is full and all is as it should be...so far?

the price was great also, but no reason to post it here (I'm from Denmark) and the car prices are 3 times higher then anywhere else, so it would look crazy to you.

Hi NicVentura,

welcome to the forum and the life of 607...

Good buy, especially with the facelift feature, it must look smart..

I would not agree that it is a bucket of faults, its a fantastic motor and I have two.. both are magic and I would not buy any other car..

problem is there are not many good garages that work and have knowledge of 607.. they are like trial and error.. you'd be better off doing most of the things yourself.. and now that 607 has been pulled off sales its gonna get even worse..

besides that, dont worry.. there are several causes for the anti pollution problem.. your son will be fine, as long as you check the tyres and breaks and always keep and an eye on the radiotor coolant level.. take stops after 2 -3 hrs in the journey.. you will be fine..

anything else let me know.. thanks

Thank you for the reply !! You answer allot of good questions on this forum Scutcruz....carefull or you will be my NR 1 contact when it comes to my new 607.

Yes the car is indeed a great drive !! with the 6 month guaranty, i just gave it back to the main dealer for a few fixes. all the problems (not many) were the cause of short rides. The car was at the dealer for 4 month, so with only a few meters daily of engine run time, allot of dust and oil has build up....he said that all it needed was a good hard burn through, and that should fix the Anti pollution fault...plus maybe a new filter. The only other problem was that my rear backing sensors sometimes went crazy...and started to beeeeep when in backing gear. Plus i was worried about a engine "noise" i only had this car for 3 weeks so I'm still getting use to it's sound (not that there is much to hear ...boy its quiet....when idle its 0 DB...my wife thinks the engine stops every time we are at a red light...such a smooth engine). The noise that worried med, was when the engine was cold, it sounds like an old Diesel engine, and it "raddles" when i hit the gas hard. but after a few min, when the engine is warm, there is not one sound !! is this normal ?? or is it an oil thing ??

well that is all for now !!

oh and i found the missing VDO monitor cable...some fool cut it !?!?! so i ordered a new one....imagine..cutting a cable like that for a £1300 system...

oh...and my main dealer is a 607 specialist. they are 25 Peugeot mechanics, and 5 of them are some guys in white coats, only working on 607's with some hotline to a French specialist, that when they plug my 607 to a computer, the guy in France runs diagnostics, and informs the guys in white what to do (if they don't already know the problem) so..looks OK garage wise here.

Well i live in Denmark !! And its the main dealer in the City Aalborg !! Just got it back again ....they had it for four hours. in the four hours they fixed a cable in my backing sensors, they changed a few lights in the instrument panel, and they found out that the "anti pollution defective fault" was a bad sensor after the exhaust system. So they ordered a new sensor...plus they cant change one of the lights in the instrument panel, it's a special kind they say. So Monday the 11th they want it back, to change the light and the sensor, in that time i get another 607 to drive in, until my own is fixed. Also i talked to them about the "diesel like" sound i had when its cold...they then changed the engine oil, spark plugs and a few filters (free of charge) and said that it runs the way it should now...but i still think it sounds like a old diesel when its cold but i guess it is suppose to ?? when engine is about 80 degrees Celsius, i cant hear a thing..then all is smooth.

But all in all, i think the service is great at my main dealer....they look like they know what is going on !!
