Default EGR Valve

To the very clever people on this forum.
Im Getting my egr valve changed in the morning as my warning (P0234) light and anti pollution system failure warning keeps comes on. I leave the house every day and drive through an estate for approx 1.5 miles (average speed 30 mph) then onto a dual carraigeway (speed upto 70 mph) after approx 3 miles my anti pollution system failure warning light comes on and my car goes into limp mode. My question is: Does this sound as if it is definately my egr valve not working correctly as it comes on same place every day or do u think it could be something else but with the code P0234 Showing up

Am getting this for your code maybe Scotscruz or Risky can help here but i would have thought the EGR would bring up a EGR code -

This is not an egr problem. What engine is in your car, 2.0, 2.2?

Ok the vacuum system needs to be checked. The turbo boost solenoids need to be cheked.
My reckoning is the variable vanes in the turbo are stuck giving too much boost.
