Hi folks,
Has anyone been able to use any other simcard than Vodafone or O2 ? Just want to see if inbuild phone does not handle the GSM network frequencies or is it just me.. getting a new contract off virgin very cheap but dont want to get it if it doesnt work.. I have tried using other simcards, it just stays at "searching for GSM network" please share your experiences..

the sim card has to be programmed by the dealer into the system so its cost?,
a simple bluetooth receiver/sender will be much better and you can get one from carphone warehouse for £50 as a stand alone unit and a 1/4 of the price of parrot but does the same thing and very easy to fit ( I know because I have one ) think ££££$$$$. |

All frequencies are GSM (Global System for Mobiletelecommunication), including Vodafone/O2 on 900mhz, and Twot Mobile and Orange on 1800mhz (and some overseas territories also use 1900mhz, such as the US and Japanistan).
Virgin piggybacks off the T Mobile net, and I'm not sure where 3 use. T Mobile also uses an additional level of their own encryption above and beyond GSM which can occasionally create problems trying to use a sim in a unit never originally intended for that provider, and Virgin sims can also suffer similarly in a non-virgin enabled unit. It might be the case that if it only works with O2 or Vodafone then the unit will only handle the 900mhz network, and all the programming in the world won't suddenly create a circuit board that'll manage the higher frequencies.
