Default 607 dpf?

Having never owned a car with a diesel particle filter I'm kind of in the dark as to what needs to be done in order to keep it healthy...the little warning came up earlier on the dash when I was giving it some beans to get onto the motorway. How hard is it to clean it out (if it can get cleaned out) and how about getting shot altogether (or perhaps a bypass) if it can be cleaned, with what and does anything have to go back on after the wash out... thoughts and opinions please...

Well best thing really is to get a car without dpf getting harder to find these days as all diesels have them new now or most .
Think its hard to find a secondhand diesel car that is not being sold because of dpf faults lots would be part ex sold at auction then had dpf removed i mean fault codes software wise cheapest and sold cheap in back street dealers then you get 3 months or less warranty then your problems start good money is then thrown at it in bundles and guess what you part ex it at a big loss and say you will never buy another what ever make it is

Sorry for being negative

Short trips and driving round town are no good for dpf

Blasts down motorway and good long drives keep it clear

Keep an eye on fluid in additive tank.

Other than that wouldn't worry about it until you have a problem if ever

Trouble is 80% of people only go down the motorway 2 weeks every year on holiday or you have older people like my mother before she passed away was scared stiff of motorways and avoided like the plague until there is a better way of burning soot off there is always going to be deep pockets needed.

There's always gonna be two camps were this is concerned,

those who have had trouble

and

those who have not.

So far I'm one of those who have not had a problem after 108k.

Well when you do i can assure you now you would wish you had never heard of dpf`s and at 108000 your near the problem area.
102000 mine 12 months of playing up no fault codes but clogged dpf choking engine decided to remove 3 months back still problems with regenerating had custom maps done after about 30 odd emails and arguments i threatened trading standards just offered refund but that still leaves new dpf to be fitted and cat plus differential pipes then might not be right as dmf then needed so if you have dpf and dmf goingto cost at some point and if youhave the 407 balljoints can go on but sure until you have these problems you will not agree but i bet you think back about this post at some point.

I've done a clean on mine on 307 HDI, easy to do really but you need to make sure all the other related stuff is working also. I've just been through the whole system nearly on the 307 and needed to replace one or two sensors etc. Still cheaper than a new DPF or a removal with a re-map. Its up to you which route you take but if you need talk about how the system works just drop me a line and I can help you maybe.
