firstly, the problem is not mine personally, but i am asking on behalf of my fiancées brother, who has a ten-year-old 607 with an automatic transmisson. Aparently it started with the severe cold weather. We've had a week of temperatures between -15 and -25 degress centigrade, and the car is outdoors. After a ten minute trip, the car didn't want to shift to any other gear then first gear, and there was a smell, as if something had burnt. A liquid aparently had squirted out on parts of the engine. I suspect it will be a costly repair. He hasn't asked for any quotes yet, since the car is ten years old, but what do ou think can be done, and what is causing it?

I hope he gets something sorted out soon, becuase atm he is driving around in the car we normally drive (me and fiancée). So... I don't think he likes the Toyota Corolla -86 he is driving, but since more people depend on him, than on us, the Toyota (named Hermann) is in his custody.
