Default 607 Air Con problem

As today has been the first day it's been warmer than 15 degrees since I bought my 607 2.2 HDi S, it was the first chance I've had to see if the air con actually works and....it doesn't .

All the lights and controls seem to work but even with temp set to 15 deg on both sides it's still the temperature of the air outside

The manual says there should be a warning on the control panel (flashing decimals?) but I haven't got that

There isn't any change in engine note or other audible sign that the compressor is switching on or off with the A/C switch

The car seems to beep and whistle when anything gets low or broken so I'm a bit lost, do I need to get it checked out at a garage / air con specialist?

Many thanks

right.. first thing, there is nothing wrong with it.. it simply needs a gas recharge.. expect to pay around £60.. I pay £30 to the guy I know for years so he gives me a good price..

you cant hear any noise or compressor kicking in because there is no gas in the system.. no audible sign for error as it is not connected to any ECU..

dont go to the garage they will rip you.. check yell.com and seach for car airconditioning in your area. They come to you and usually charge £60..

They would use a compressor to vaccum the system first, then recharge the gas with a dye so if there are any leaks. Make sure you know the quantity of the refrigerant (see attached) as too much or too low would damage the compressor. Mine takes 625 grams more or less 25 grams.

let me know if you need help mate..
