Default 607 2.2 HDI Particulate filter

Hello.
I have a 2001 'Y' Peugeot 607 2.2 HDI with 90k on the clock. Upon starting the car is usually fine but once up to speed the engine light on the dash shows up. On the sat nav screen the warning light for the diesel particulate filter shows up telling me to change it. With the engine light on the car can be very slow in picking up speed and sometimes has difficulty going above 70moh. What do I need to change and how much should it cost? Help please!!!
Thank you

hi, there is two ways you can go from here:

1) follow these two guides to clean your DPF and refill additive:
Particle Filter DIY clean
How to fill your Additive guide
and as one will state resetting the counter with planet, you can either find someone in your local area with the device or go to your local dealer and get them to reset it.

2) take it to dealer and pay the diagnostic fee, followed by labour and parts and from what i have heard about this. it costs an arm and leg plus they may try fobbing you off with another fault is causing it.

what you are experiancing is limp home mode. it stops futher damage to your car. if you keep driving it, you may cause irrepairable damage to your current DPF and will have no choice but to buy new. £££'s

hope this helps
