Default 2.2 Auto, labouring at 1,800-2,000 revs??

Hiya lads.
When driving, the car has a noticeable labouring/holding back at 1,800-2,000 revs. If I accelerate, it runs fine but just seems to be in 2nd gear at these revs or 3rd, maintaining the same speed at these revs and you can even see the rev counter flickering??
Any idea's oh clever ones???
Also, anyone know where the link is to reset the main BSI/BMI/??? as I did this once when I was having problems with my central locking but cannot find it now??

Many thanks all.

What's the mileage on your car mate... it sounds like gone in the limp mode..

It could be the MAF, fuel filter or clogged DPF... connecting it to Planet will show you the codes...

MAF = Mass Air Flow Sensor
DPF = Diesel Particulate Filter

yes its expensive.. these cars are great and only downside is the DPF...

Do you get any warning on the dashboard... do you fans kick in?

No warning lights on the dash mate and as for the fans, I have heard them running but not being very mechanical, not sure when etc...
If I take it to a mate who I use, he has a fault code machine. Will that tell him the problem?

It'll give a good idea of what it is. If he doesn't have access to the code meanings, post the codes here.

Default Resurrecting the thread - same issue

Morning All,
Anyone recall the fix to this? Or experienced similar?
My 02 2.2 HDi Auto does exactly the same thing.... lack-lustre power and pulsing rev counter between 1600 and 2000, fine either side.

(and out of interest, how slow off the mark should this car be? It crawls until I hit 1800 rpm, then goes great. Has almost got me squashed on a few junctions....!)

thanks

Rob

I had a similar problem on my old 1.6 and it was fixed by a software upgrade
