Default P 508 - Owners general impressions

In reply to jmkent's question in thread: RT6, here are my impressions after a weeks ownership of the Peugeot 508:

My version: 1.6 I THP 156 HP - manual transmission, outfit: Allure, extras: Pack III / full leather, WIP NAV+ & Head-Up display, P-space measuring.

My previous experience and comparison base: Peugeot 605, Citroen Xantia, 2 times Merc.Benz + Peugeot 406/2.0 Aut.

Overall I am happy for my choice. The engine is incredibly flexible, quiet and powerful enough for me (surprisingly much more kick than the P 406 2.0 motor!). The interior has that Audi-feeling, thanks to the high quality finish, the instrument layout and the leather upholstery. The car is easy to maneuver around and suspension is good - softer than my old P 406 which is appreciated.

Specific nice / cool features noted after the first weeks experience:
- keyless lock/u8nlock, keyless start, electronic p-brake/hill assist, head-up display, fuel ecomomy / operating radius display, rear mirror toning on back lighting, quality of sound system (not the JBL), aut. folding of side mirrors on lock, the list goes on and on...

Specific frustrations / second thoughts:
- the WIP NAV+ user interface and crippled functionality when it comes to controlling and data management. See separate rambling from me in thread: RT6.
- I decided to go back to manual transmission for cost reasons. But it would have suited the car with an automatic trans.
- Very little documentation online or from supplier to explore. If it is not in the Owners Manual, forget it.

I hope this can be of use to prospective buyers who has the P 508 on their short list. Would myself welcome impressions - early or more mature - from others, incl. any information sources to supplement the Peugeot websites and this forum.

Best regards
