Default Gearbox problem? 2006 407 2.0 Hdi auto

Hi all,

I just bought a 2006 407 SW 2.0 HDi with automatic transmission a month ago. Have driven it 4000 km and have had no problems what so ever, until now: the transmission has started to act up. When driving 60 mph and accelerating to pass a car, there is a loss of power and the transmission refuses to shift gear. The engine revs up to 3500 rpm before shifting, and sometimes it doesn't shift at all, i.e. only option is to slow down again.

Handed it in to Peugeot and then the problem was gone. They said they took it for a "long drive" both on the highway and in the city... I've had Peugeot before and personnally think the Peugeot mechanics and service reps are a bunch of clowns (don't know how it is in the UK though). After the visit to Peugeot it started again after 30 minutes driving at normal pace (50-70 mph), and now it's back at Peugeot but at a different shop this time.

According to the service record the car has had this problem before, then it was some sort of switch that needed replacement. However, since i am the new owner and the service record doesn't state exactly which switch it was, i was wondering if any of you have a similar problem. My car has gone 77000 km and last time it occurred according to the service record was at 41000 km. The car has a fully stamped service booklet (@30000 kms and @60000 kms).

I don't know if it's an engine problem or transmission problem, loss of power versus the abnormal behavior of the gearbox... Do you have any good tips?

BR,
Paul

Fixed!

The turbo hose had jumped off. This caused the loss of power and (i assume) the gearbox's difficulties to find the right gear.

Took 3 minutes to fix!

I should have known as this is a standard fault on Peugeot. Had the same thing with my 206 Hdi (manual gearbox though). But then again it was the misses that was driving the car when it happened... :-)
