407 2.0 HDI overheating

Hi,

Now that i have fixed my brothers starter motor problerm, I left it running for say 30mins and there was steam coming out of the engine area, and found that the needle does not work, I mean to say doesnt seem to be very good.

Also did not hear the fan - but im not 100% sure on this - Might have been over-reacting when i saw the steam.

Is there anyway to check/test the relays?

Are you sure it was not just the thermostat opening and hot coolant going into a cold damp radiator. You will get the same type of steam.
