Default Retrofit trip computer into D8 HDi

Just wondering if anyone has retro fitted a trip computer into a D8 HDi

The MFD in my car has trip computer functionality
I replaced all my stalks last summer, and fitted the trip computer stalk into it as opposed to the standard one.

I'm hoping it's just a case of finding any D8 with the trip computer already installed, and taking the second plug for the MFD and tracing the wiring back to source i.e feed to ECU and tank sender, and any others that are required.

I'm led to believe the D9 HDi's have a trip computer as standard, and thus can't see why a D8 HDi can't have this retro fitted

Any advice from someone who has done this greatly appreciated ( if there is anybody )

Which engine do you have as there wasn't an HDi in a D8, should either be the 1.9TD or the 2.1TD?

I retro fitted into a R reg D8 V6 coupe, just added the stalk and changed the dial on the side of the MFD, i think on some models not all the wiring was there and i believe mjb did fully retro fit on V6 saloon, i'll see if i can find the original links

Misconception my friend
Peugeot "officially" released the HDi engine to coincide with the Facelifted D9
However "unofficially" the engine was fitted to the D8 from October of 98 through to February 99
My car was built in January 99 and was fitted with the 110bhp 2.0 HDi engine from factory

Correct indeed - the coupe has the wiring from factory - as you say simple as fitting the correct stalk, and turning the wheel

It was thought, that it wasn't possible to retro fit this to a D8 diesel, as the signal wire from the ECU wasn't present, but this has been proved to be untrue

I have made a start
This week, I have had the carpet up to fit a live feed through the bulkhead grommet on the passenger side to retro fit the heated seat capability into the leathers I fitted this time last year
Whilst there, I bought a 7metre reel of 5amp wiring, and have fed that also through the grommet ready to go to wire 1368 on the ECU - need to double check, but that needs to go to either pin 62 or 63 of the ECU

As the heated seat wiring needed earthing, and I had the centre console out, I also fitted an extra earth to go to the MFD

I believe there are 5 wires required in total, but trying to source the secondary plug for the MFD, so I can do it properly

Was hoping to have done more, but what with having the wiper arms off and repainting the arms, and fitting a new boot badge this week, plus extending some of the wiring for the heated seats, and having to have the seats out to fit the wires nicely, i'm a tad behind

Started getting the MFD and switches out the centre of the dash, and will get the radio, and aircon control out tomorrow, to finish feeding the earth up to the MFD, and also the wire from the ECU
Then I can get the carpet back in place, the centre console, although I was hoping to fit a D9 centre console with the drinks holders
Plug is really slowing me down with progress for this
Have pm'd Adrian Bingham the coupe breaker through another forum, but no reply as thought that was my best source for the plug and the centre console as there just isn't any breakers local to me anymore

I read you post on the other forums as i'm registered on both as i've had two saloons and two diesels, then made perfect sense on the HDi issue!

I'm not 100% sure on the plus you need but if you can explain or show a pic i'll goto scrappy Saturday morning and get one for you, my local has a fair selection of 406's at the moment.

Here is the back of the MFD
The existing wiring plugs into the top bank of plugs
I require the plug that goes below this please

Existing plug for comparison

Thanks

**Edit** It would seem the plugs are virtually the same except, the lower doesn't appear to have the clip to secure into place
Plus obviously the lower plug "should" have the wiring in the correct positions
