Default quick question... "written slowly"

hiya people,
ive been sniffing through fleabay for a new stereo for my 99 pug 406, as my cd player has a mind of its own!
some one on there if offin a Philips head unit with multi changer "patch lead" and a pair of 6x9s.... + code
now i can only assume this is from a mk1 406.. question is will this be a direct fit for my mk2??? will the stalk control still work, as well as the display?
many thanks on this
sam...

Change to a non standard stereo on a MKII, or D9, and it brings up the engine management light as the car is multiplexed. A pain in the arth.

Visit www.406oc.co.uk for more info on the topic.

Correct me if I'm wrong but is it not only a matter of replacing the power in to the stereo with a direct feed from the battery (fused of course) to trick the car?

Alas, I don't know. I'm pretty sure it's like the 407, in that a replacement stereo needs configuring with Planet, so it may be more complex than that, but I'm not sure.

The reason no one has done it is because it causes problems on the D9.
