Obtaining a functioning spare key and remote

Good afternoon.
I have just bought a 2001 2.0. hdi and it only came with one key. The key I have is a genuine Peugeot "PLIP" with two buttons which functions correctly starting the car and operating as a remote control.
I need a spare key.
I have been to Timpsons locally and they can cut and code a simple transponder key but it wont include the remote function.
What can I do to get a key with a functioning remote.
I have the four digit code courtesy of another website but dont know how to go about making use of it.
If I buy a plip type blank on ebay how do I get it programmed to operate as a remote as well.
I have been quoted £160 from one auto locksmith and timpsons want £60 for one or £90 for two simple transponder keys.
Im sure this is a common question and im sure loads of you have fixed this problem before, please could someone offer a step by step guide to getting both elements of the key ie the transponder and the alarm remote programmed.

Don't buy used/2nd hand key waste of money they can only be programed once.

Anyone with planet can program a key for you, try dealer for a uncoded remote key or maybe someone selling new 406 keys on ebay.
