Default Not in Haynes manual...!

Hi chaps

Simple one I suppose but want to get it right

1. Torque setting for oil drain plug

2. Where is the oil drain plug, is it at the rear of the engine with a hexagon type recess in the plug ?

3. How tight must the oil filter be - usually it's x number of turns after the filter has made ctc with the flange - on my Suzuki 750 it's 1.5 turns after ctc..!

4. How important is the engine shield you have to remove - or can you change oil with it in situ ?

Thanks

SS

Thanks

Oil filter as tight as you can by hand, and no more. That's why it's important to jack and choc the car up properly so you can get space to got some leverage.

If you don't have a torque wrench do the drain plug as tight as you can by hand. Then no more than a futher 90 degrees with a tool.

Good luck.

Thanks chaps

I decided to call Peugot main dealer and as this car had been main dealer serviced at the same place they were very helpful. Anyhow, when I took the plug off I was amazed how little torque was required to undo it, and this was confirmed when the main dealer told me the torque setting is only 3 (THREE) Nm or 2.2lb ft. I have changed the oil and filter now, used Mobil Super S Turbo Diesel which only cost me £ 17 at Asda (special offer) plus an oil filter for £ 7 from Halfords so all in £ 24 and the engine is so much quieter !

Thanks again

Excellent. Keep an eye on the filter as it's not unheard of for filters from that source to cause oil pressure problems. Genuine filters are only about £7 themselves at the dealers, or less if you keep your eye on the internet suppliers (I picked up 3 for a tenner from an authorised pug dealer online).

Good luck.

Thanks Chopper

I hope I dont have any problems, I assume I'd know there was a problem because the oil pressure light would come on ?
