Hi I have a P reg 406 2.1td estate.
A while ago I was driving along and smelled a burning noise and none of the heaters/blowers/aircon etc worked. Literally no display on the unit, no air flow or heat or anything. I thought it could be a fuse so changed the fuse but the burning smell resumed but stopped when I took the fuse out. So I have been driving without the fuse and no heat/blowers. Now it is winter and I am cold/misted and iced up. Any ideas on what it could be and how to fix it/approx cost etc before I buy a different car. ![]() Thanks a lot |

I have a 99 D8 406, and I had trouble with my blower with a burning smell
If you can take the carpet out from under the glovebox, and check the wiring Mine had been shorting out, and you could see the black marks on the wiring It was next to the white plug which leads to the fan, and was about 5 inches from it Initially I cut the plug off and fitted some spade connectors, which were ok for a while, but then these played up I then purchased a 50 amp Anderson Connector off the bay of e for about a fiver and since fitting have had no more problems Thus, as said, take the triangular piece of carpet off that goes from the bulkhead to the back of the glovebox and inspect the wiring for evidence of shorting |
