Default New here, but really desperate for advice

Hi all, I have a 2001 406 HDI and I seem to be having some strange issues. My heater blower have packed up and also my central locking failed the same time and also the radio will lose it memory if I turn the ignition off after I have set it all back in.

The strange thing is that the digital display for the fan speed will all light up if you press the speed up button and go out if you decrease the speed, but the blowers dont turn on. And all this happened on the same day.

So I am wondering if some how a module or something have failed as I am guessing that the radio have lost its live feed to keep the memory when ignition if switched off and this circuit controls other stuff. I did hear that the feed is taken from the ignition switch, but I wonder if that is just to switch the radio off with the ignition.

Any help is greatfully appreciated as it is driving me crazy. Thanks.

Anthony

does sound like your constant live has gone as your radio uses that to keep the memory. does other things such as lights interior and exterior still work when there is no key in the ignition?

id do a simple fuse check to make sure that hasnt blown first. check your fuses and make sure and post back with results

Thanks for the advice. I forgot to say that I did check the fuses and they all fine. Everything else seems to work fine that is needed for the live feed as I assume the live feed is somehow taken from or to the fuse box from the battery.

So if that many electrics have gone, then is it a good possibility that the fuse box is faulty or can I run a permanent live feed from somewhere like the cigarette lighter socket and run it too the location where the live feed is taken from.

Thanks again

sounds like your relay could be knackered. they only cost a few quid to replace. if it is your fusebox i would just get another from a scrappy...be far cheaper and easier then to do what your suggesting and more safer

Yeah, thanks for the advice. I will try a relay first. By chance you wouldn't happen to know which relay it is and what fuse box the relay is in?? I would get a new fuse box, I was just wondering if it could be done for temp or like the citroens where you could bypass the switch to power it.

Thanks for much, much appreciated and I agree safety first

it will be in the engine fuse box if anywhere. not sure which one, you will have to look into the owners manual or haynes

or

even davidireland could point you into the right direction...he knows all peugeot/citroens secrets

Get out your test light or multimeter and find out where 12v power is and is not. You'll need a wiring schematic to see which posts on the fusebox should be hot at all times. Compare what you have hot with what should be hot, and if something does not match the schematic then you have found your faulty circuit.

I went thru similar with our Boxer and at the end of the day it was a burnt cheesy 4-pin connector causing all the grief, buried up way behind the dash
