Angry Ignition Immobiliser Fault

Hi There
I have a 406 hdi 51 plate the car was fine untill xmas eve ladened with all the xmas shopping ,4 times the usual it was dark and snowing all i wanted was to get home and have a cuppa
well, no such luck turned the key and it wouldnt start because the display read IGNITION IMMOBILSER FAULT i had to get a taxi home so transferred all the shopping and left my hubby in the midddle of nowhere to sort it
after 3 hours waiting he finaly showed up and said a security gaurd had said to him he had the same trouble with his at sometime but if he waited it would resett itself
so he duly waited in that freezing car and apparently it did after 3 hours
ALL WAS WELL FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS RAN NORMALY AFTER START untill BANG WOULD YOU BELEIVE IT the next morning only to find outside the house with another display ECONOMY MODE ACTIVE
a neighbour of ours said he would take a look at it as he has one of those TESTERS
but first he said he would try the SHUNT FUSE this he did but a NO GO
He tried his Tester
IT READ OPEN CIRCUIT
SHORT CIRCUIT TO EARTH
MAF SENSOR
so he replaced the MAF SENSOR and tried it
still NO GO
after that he said he would reset the BSI
USUAL FORMATT BATT/ WINDOW/ SIDE LIGHTS ETC
but still NO GO
he dosent think its the EGR VALVE OR THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR OR THE ANY OF THE EARTHS
now being a woman all the charm in the world isnt going to get me a FREEBIE from a PEUGEOT SPARKY
and im loathe to pay through the nose at the DEALERSHIP
so im at a loss and at your mercy of your much valued expertise
PLEASE BE GENTLE
I AWAIT YOUR RESPONCE WITH BATED BREATH
AND A MUG OF COCOA

You might want to get the fuel pump tested - it needs to kick out some pressure before much happens.

And I found this:

Thanks Steve, can confirm that this 15 pin Bitron relay does seem to be responsible for the fault as described in the thread subject, my car has repeated the fault today, breaking down shortly after stopping for traffic lights, engine & instruments switch off or cut, 'engine immobiliser fault' is showing on screen along with illuminated key lamp on l/h of instrument panel, car will not restart, replaced 15 pin Bitron relay with spare & car restarted & ran normally. (If you disconnect the relay with the car running it does mimic the fault)

The ecu wont reply back to pug planet tried configing everything, bsi and the comms unit are all connecting and ive corrected the vin number into it, not done much on pugs, as know they can be nightmare, but going to get right into them as im working on virginising bsi units, anyway do you have lexia? oh and no there not new bsi,ecu and transponder, there taken from another 2.0 hdi with the same part numbers

Hi

Did the bsi and ecu come off the same car and matched, if you have change vin what transponder code are you using to program old or new.
When you look on pp2000 does it say bsi and ecu matched, ecu locked or unlocked.
Thanks Vpug

Hi

I have change a couple of sets of ecu/bsi/transponders, but I have not change the vin number as it give the code for transponder.
When you look on pp2000 does it say bsi and ecu matched and ecu unlocked.

Thanks Vpug

Im not with the car at the moment but will go to it tomorrow and put the old vin back in it, as maybe this is where its going wrong.
When i first put the ecu,bsi and transponder in,it showed immo fault on the centre of the dash, so then the next day i went and put pp2000 on the car and it showed up NO REPLY from ecu, yea im getting at where your coming from so im going to have a bash at it tomorrow, cant believe this pug is stressin me out ha
