headlamp bulb

ive just changed my headlamp bulb everything was fine i.e the bulb lit up then i went on a small run & i got home the bulb had blown again any ideas guys

Did you touch the bulb glass before you put it in?

Did you put the bulb in straight?

In my headlight there is a metal collar that surrounds the bulb - don't know why its there - but I had to be careful when replacing the bulb that it didn't touch the metal collar.

Could be old bulb.
