Default fuel gauge/no com with p.steering ecu*FIXED*

Hi guys long time watcher new poster lol.my 2003 406 hdi (90)fuel gauge not working saying empty all the time?says short/open curcuit checked all wires and fuses from fuel sender unit to fuse box not checking bsi yet does any1 know if there is a relay in engine compartment?also no com with ecu for power steering which my power steering works fine any help would be great.thanx

Your fuel gauge could be dry joints on the back of the clock !!!

hi mate thanx for reply but when i plug in pp the needle on the gauge moves under diagnostic test?gonna rip out the sender unit again.2 new locking rings to play with so hopefuly not break them both.lol £3.30 from
pug dealer and £17 on fleabay.

I will be interested in the result because i have a similar problem with my hdi,its registering more than it should be
, i just have nt had a chance to look at it ,

What model year is your 406?
check the gauge resistance at full level and at empty. You'll need the gauge out in your hand.
50ohms full and 350 ohms empty.
As far as i remember. Could be other way around, i havent checked one of those in ages.
