My 406 2.0 HDi has been the best car purchase I've ever made: I've had it 8 years, only once ever completely broken down on me engine-wise (fuel pump). Excluding tyres, exhausts & brake pads, I've only had to change three items - brake discs, timing belt and driver-side front suspension spring.
What's really strange is that this driver-side front suspension spring has snapped three times over the years, once because of a speed bump but twice just while it was sitting outside the house. Yet the pasenger side spring is still the original. Is this as unsusual as it seems to me? Has it happened to others? And before anyone cracks the obvious joke, I'm only about 12 and a half stone

Mine snapped two months ago (driver's side) but it had lasted 203,000 miles !
Other springs still original Cheers Andy C |
