Default Doorlock just rotates

Hi Guys.

I have just bought a W reg (2000) 406 estate. Love the car far more than I would have imagined.

The only problem is that the drivers doorlock just rotates and door cannot be opened/closed with the key or remote. If I lock the drivers door while inside, it does lock all the other doors, but when pressing the remote fob, the central locking does not lock/open the drivers door.

How easy is it to change the lock and do you think I will need to change the drivers door central locking unit as well or is the problem just with the lock?

Also if you can recommend a good place to get a new doorlock and key+fob without paying dealer prices it would be appreciated.

Surely if it was just seized you would not be able to rotate the key in the lock?

I'm willin to try anything though lol. Thanks for the response.

The bit you put the key in is inside the barrel and rotates independently if its seized key then all will rotate

Bettys do you think it is worthwhile taking the lock out to try and free it. I have put lots of WD into the lock through key entrance just waiting for it to penetrate.

Also any thoughts about the central locking? Would the lock being seized stop that from working. I can easily lock and open the door from the inside, so I would presume that the central locking would work.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond mate.

You might aswell because if you can`t release it you`ll have to change it anyway , it will stop that door opening with fob if its seized.
