Hi
I got the key code from bettswollocks (mucho gracias) and also the correct procedure for pairing keys. But Darn car still won't pair the keys. The only other thing I can think of is the sensor next to the diagnostic clip. When I first tried to plug in the elm interface...yes I know it's pretty useless on this car, I now have the lexia....I pushed the diagnostic clip through the panel, cos someone had done it previously and broken one side of the retaining clips. I undid the lower access panel to put it right. In the process I investigated the sensor on the left which I take to be the key reader sensor thingy. I am wondering If I pulled too hard on the wires and stretched them. When I took it off to look at the sensor I noted the connection was a two bladed affair. which coincidentally looks the same as the extra connector for the lexia interface. Can I use the lexia to test this unit.. I remember seeing a test procedure in print somewhere and can't remember if it was from the fault analysis page on the planet program or on this forum. It related to the four wires on the loom that connects the sensor. I know I'm probably becoming quite a bore on this subject but honestly I'm taking most of the right steps in that I have splashed out on the lexia and have sent off for the puegeot service box also (the guy I'm buying it off has crashed his computer and I have to wait til he fixes it to burn the discs for me) The pattern I see unfolding before me is that the car is jinxed.... the only alternative to that, is I am a complete idiot.. so I'm sticking to the jinxed theory purely for the feelgood factor. Also yes I might have had it fixed in the garage for a hundred quid and saved some, but what would I know..less than I do now...O.K. maybe just a little less and anyway the lexia will work on the kids cars..206.. 106. thanking all kind helpers Mike P.S. I managed to get the key security card from previous owner, how do you read these things, with the old swipe card reader? It would be interesting to know if the ecu and sensor had been changed and new key number issued, that would be one explanation I suppose, or is it uv light? |

Vehicle family 406 (RESTYLING)
Build code 08806 89 1 0349 Warranty Start Date 24/01/2001 ENGINE INJECTION EW7J4 Engine serial number 10 LT05 ****** Gearbox serial number 20 DL43******* BER e2*98/14*0092*00 Yes am trying to start car after having G/box out, but just not managing to pair keys..but yet again read somewhere else on forum (See below) I should wait five seconds between turning ignition on after removing key. I have searched and read so much stuff about key pairing my brain is fried. Will try when have had some sleep. Shift work doesn't help the grey matter either. And do I have to bsi reset by taking battery off after using planet to code the keys into the ecu? Mike Switch ignition ON. Press and hold lock button for 10 seconds. Switch ignition OFF. Remove key from ignition switch. Wait 5 seconds. Synchronization procedure complete. Confirm synchronization has been successful by locking, double locking and unlocking vehicle. Repeat above procedure to synchronize any remaining keys. ( posted by pugbod ) Last edited by bradleyor; 05-23-2011 at 05:32 AM. Reason: addition |
