Hi chaps
My 406 has done 208,000 miles and I think the gearchange is a bit notchy and gears are difficult to select. Would it be worthwhile changing the gearbox oil although I dont know if you can drain it (top up only). It had a new clutch at 150,000 so I don't think the clutch is the issue. Cheers Andy |

It'll do no harm, and may save the day. Equally likely is wear on the baulk rings making things a bit notchy.
OE and Valeo clutches on the 90 are notoriously weak and can wear badly and quickly become weak and/or slip. The 110 clutch is relatively trouble free and should have a decent lifespan.

Thanks Chopper
Is it easy to drain the gearbox oil and also another question please There is a water drain valve on the fuel filter, is it safe to unscrew it to get rid of any water or do you risk allowing air to enter the fuel system ? Apparently you should do it every 6000 miles... It mentions having to bleed the fuel system in some cases ? Cheers Andy |
