406 2.0 Hdi Cambelt life

How often has the cambelt got to be changed on a 2002 406 2.0ltr Hdi and is it possible to get a reasonably price fault code reader. All the ones I have seen state the they are for 2004 onwards deisels.

Life is 8 years, but don't quote me but mileage is something like 96k, so if not been done previously your overdue

As for code readers, they weren't standardised till 2004 so you need the specific reader
Too dear to buy normally, so most buy a clone from China for around £100ish off the bay
Look for Lexia/PP2000

Hi Plod, Thanks for the reply, I've only just purchased the car and according to the service book the cambelt was changed at 60k and it's now on 115k. Thanks for the info on code reader I'll have a look today.
