Unhappy 200 406 hdi (90bhp) 40mph & speedo/rev counter froze+car cut out?wont start.Q?

hello there,

im Pearse an expierienced maintenance electrisian from Tyrone N.ireland

my dads 406 hdi 90bhp was driving down road at 40mph when Car stopped dead and speedo and rev counter and all of clocks and instrument panel froze
e.g rev counter stayed at 2500rpm and speedo 41mph when stopped dead

car will turn over but wont start or put instrucment panel back to normal or light it up or light climate control unit up either

i went round every fuse tested every one-all ok

went round every relay, tested every coil and n/o and n/c-all ok

checked BSI for burning on board-ok

ecu plugs-non burnt all ok

check all obvious earths-ok

i found 2 small burnt bad connections in a connector block under drivers carpet and repaired them as necessary but still no change

spent a day and eventually got dash clocks and speedo back to normal(lighting up and working etc but only by

back feeding a 12v supply back up a illumination/ignition wire of aftermarket cd player that must be spurred round that circut

car will turn over but still not start or even try to start

was put on diagnostic machine but no faults

car is getting diesel etc but i dont think ecu is letting injectors open close accordingly at all

would this possibly be a BSI or ECU fault?

what relay or what item sends power to clocks/instrucment panel when car is switched on?

i have few electrical drawings but there for LHD car in france so not great

and links or places to get correct electrical drawings for UK 2002 peugeot 406 HDI diesel 90?

any help appriciated

i believe car is siemens electrical system and bosch braking system

thanks

BSI sounds a favourite.

Welcome Pearse , any bad earth problems ? connections under drivers carpet are usually down to wetness carried in on the feet, have you got "planet" to see if the keys are still been seen ?

Where abouts in Tyrone are you ? Mum`s family are from Dromore and i was down that way on Saturday , just got to McDonalds in Omagh before the football crowd landed after the match.
