No heat from Peugeot 405 GLX 'M' Reg

Hello everybody I hope somebody out there can help me.
I cannot get hot air to come out of heater. I have taken facia off and pulled out the heater controll unit to have a look. The book says there should be two cables attched to it. One for the direction of air flow and one for the heat mix. The heat mix one is missing. Can anybody let me know where on the heater matrix/housing should this cable go to so I can manually select heat for the time being.
Any diagrams would be very much appreciated.
