Re-fitting cover just above front bumper

I'm swapping the no-brand aux lights for hid-converted Hella Comet FF 200 on my 2008 308 and in the process I needed to remove the black plastic cover just above the front bumper in order to access the already installed wires. I can see the clips that attaches the cover but I wonder if I have to remove the numberplate holder, if possible, to re-fit the cover or if there is a trick to it. Tnx in advance.
