Hi
Can anyone help me? Does anyone have a set of fitting instructions for genuine Peugeot rear parking sensors on a 308? Be very grateful if I could have a copy. Last edited by JohnW5170; 05-27-2010 at 09:27 PM. |

Have you a part number?
There are 15 types of rear sensors made for 308s. (Saloon, estate and coupe versions, etc.) Some are for bumpers with a protective strip, some are for those without. Some reversing sensors require configuring using a VIN number, all require configuring. All require part number 6590 AJ which is a box bracket which is to be found near the nearside rear wheel arch (Don't know if it's in the boot or behind the arch protector.) If you're lucky, the box may be already there. |

Don't have a part number, I'm afraid, but the instructions I need are for a March 2008 SE (308) which has the 'sports' rear bumper.
Can you help? |

It sounds to me as if you bought some sensors blind.
I’ve included the descriptions of just a few of the varieties of sensor that there are. See the notes that go with them. There are 4 sensors on the rear bumper (see pic which I have enhanced) and there are caps for them on the bumper. Is this correct? Do you have the bracket and the electro unit? (Parts 1 and 2) You need both. See pic – in fact you need all of part 4 which is A+B+C If either the bracket or sensor are there, the chances are that the wiring is there for the sensors also. See the bumper pic. (Ignore the side protectors, the fitting are the same.) That’s how it comes off. Remove bumper, connect sensors, (the loom could be there) Replace bumper, take to a source with a Planet Peugeot and have them configure the sensors. There is a chance that the sensors require a VIN number – if so, I don’t know if the Peugeot Planet will do the job. I also do not know if all the information is within your BSI chip – chances are that it will be. Good luck, your mileage may vary. |

Many thanks for the info. Just to give a bit more information to you.
The sensors were fitted to the car by a Peugeot dealer - about two weeks ago, before I bought it and I paid the Peugeot list price for the accessory. When cleaning the car I found that the sounder is 'fixed' to the trim in the footwell, just in front of the near side rear seat - by velcro strips? Also, there isn't any indication on the display or any other indication that the sensors have been integrated into the car system? The dealer is 'unable' to give me the fitting instructions and I just wonder if the units fitted are a) Genuine Peugeot b) Correctly fitted I thought that sight of the genuine fitting instructions would enable me to check. Thanks again for the help so far. And I don't know how to change the miss-spelling of Peugeot in this thread!!! Last edited by JohnW5170; 05-27-2010 at 09:33 PM. |

That's not how thew pug one's fit, Kristen. I'd be very nervous about drawing power for any item in that manner on a car with multiplexed electrics. I'd take the power direct from the battery via a fused supply, and then activate them via a relay switched from the reverse light rather than risk drawing power directly from them.
As Joe surmises, there is an ECU/Controller for them and the genuine pug ones connect to that, assuming it's already present on the car. Once connected up properly, they can then be further configured on Planet to give a schematic of the car on the display when reversing.
