hi all , !
what the best way to get rid of the whiney noise on a alternator im defo sure it from there ! and can hear it from the alternator ! can i spray oil on to the alterantor pulleys ? to see if its dry ? ![]() any advice gratefully taken !! |

Have you had any belts changed recently?
An over tightened belt can cause a whirry/whining noise, in my case we over tightened my new cam belt

i only had the car 4 weeks and the belt does look new ! so not sure how to check if its to tight !!
how do i check if its to tight and how to release it if it is tight ?" ??

are these belts self adjusting ??? as i asked my mate he thinks they are and probably wouldnt cause that whiny noise ?!
any other helpful hints tips ??? |

Yeah they are self tensiong actually, well the aux belt is, not the cambelt!
Did this whine occur pre-new starter motor?

yes it was whiney before new stater motor !! ?
i hope its not the cam belt !!!!!!! guy said he had it done !

The cambelt isnt self adjusting, the tensioner is set manually!
Im only talkin from experience here but when i did mine a bit too tight it made a whiney noise!
