Where is the best place to position an axle stand when jacking the rear of the vehicle (307SW estate). Haynes manual only states to use jacking points?

there is a subframe on the rear, can this be used? today I left the weight of the car on the jack but placed on axle stand under the subframe as a precaution.

A metal car ramp with wooden block will double as an axle stand, just a comment i'm off now.
