peugeot 307 automatic gearbox fault

hi just joined so hope there is some help out there,!! ok, 307 1.6 glx automatic with tiptronic manual + and - mode, 2002/52 , 62000 miles full history!!, bought car 6 months ago seemed fine but soon the gearbox jumped out of the chosen gear and went into safe mode, had guy look at it and surgested that box fine but change the valve block and solenoids which we did and get it recoded at peugeot which again we did , drove lovely done 50 miles in it next day , went on holiday late summer 2009 for 16 days, came back and jumped in car within 1/2 mile gears jumped and said automatic gearbox problem!!!!!!!!!,back to square 1 again, checked gearbox radiator for deterioration and all ok, i,m being told this is a common problem especially from cold , and maybe pressure related,i have got no further and want to get the car sold so any suggestions will be appreciated ,thanks .

Thanks for the above - absolutely word perfect same problem with the wifes car that she has had from new!! - car is 2002 70k miles - did you manage to sort it? - does anyone have an answer

hi, still got my 307 on drive, no mot,or tax just sat there ,mine is good if you stop ,lock ,unlock restart then drive will give me the gears back??, i,m positive that the gearbox is good, everyone is saying its a low pressure from cold, change valve body and solonoids reset at peugeot any updates change the oil and refill properly then fine, did,nt work for me , if you change gearbox for secondhand one get mechanic to refit ,could end up with same problem, i,m on the case to solve so if anybody else with advise great ,fire away with suggestions.

Thanks for the update. I have just phoned a local specialist auto box repairer. He reckons it is a common problem with the whole range of boxes fitted to the PSA range (or whatever they are called). He did one last week and has another in this week for a refit of the valve body at £450 plus the vat. Cures the problem in 9 out of 10 cases. Might be worth a check in your part of the world to see if we get common answers to the question.
