Default Key stuck in ignition

Hi parked at work this morning, 307 hdi1.4 2003
turned engine off but cant remove the key its stuck.
I can turn engine on and off fine but cant release the key.
Anybody have a clue what to try

Is this just a matter of getting new barrel and key,

You don`t need a key , Peugeot can order you the barrel for your car then they just swap it.

I will post back when i've found out, the damage..
Is it possible to take the keyfob off and leave the blade in the ignition,
and lock the doors or start it as normal?
