Default Installing Used 1.6hdi engine suggestions

Hi,

After discovering that one big end bearing had let go I did some digging around for either an exchange reconditioned (or do you guys call them remanufactured?) engine or a low mileage engine.

What I found was that the recon. motors only came with 3 months warranty and with my experience of my previous recon. that lasted only 24 months, I went for a low mileage(48,000 miles) with a full service history engine.

It's due to arrive next week. It's apparently coming with turbo, injectors and wiring and is the same engine code.

My question is what things should I do/replace while I'm doing the job.

I'm thinking:

Replace the filter in the sump.
Clean sump. (I have a new sump on my old motor. I thought I read somewhere that the a new sumps allow more of the crud to drain out, so I'll take a look and change if true)
Change the timing belt.
Change the banjo bolts filters(or are they integral to the bolts?)
Change fuel filter
Change air filter.
Change oil/oil filter after 50 miles.
Change oil/oil filter after 1000 miles.

Is there anything else I should be doing or do differently?

Is there any value in changing the glow plugs, while the engine is out?

Thanks

Hi

Man I feel for you what a bummer the sump issue was mentioned in this thread

407 1.6 hdi turbo needed

Might be worth a thought

You have covered most things I have been reading up on one thing that I have tracked is the rocker cover has a pressure relieve valve that can fail may be worth checking that out sadly so far only found complete rocker replacement as its built in

Going to follow the thread hope it goes ok for you might be worth looking at the clutch while it's out of the car and the corrugated water pipe that runs into the water pump.

Watch out for the gear selector plate mine was cracked needed to replace it dealer part none on eBay

Allan
