yeah carbon copy of mine , thanks for posting the video. Let us know if the Aux belt change helps things at all. I am fearing the DMF is the culprit here though.

The aux belt has already been done mate.

I've got it booked in with another garage who is going to take it in for a couple of hours tomorrow to look at it properly, give me a diagnosis.

Well, I had it in with another garage today and he confirmed it's coming from that side of the engine. He said it's likely to be the DMF or the clutch.....So it's probably worth getting it done as he won't know for certain until the box is out which is a big enough job anyway.

So I've ordered the parts for £250 and I'm getting this garage to fit it for £200.

I think you've got a good price to change it though. If I could have found a volunteer to do mine for 200 quid I'd have been delighted

Well I'm pleased to say it's sorted!

Managed to swing the parts for £240.
Garage fitted them for me for £200 (plus another £40 for removing all four locking wheel nuts cos my key was rusty...).
He showed me the DMF and the excess movement, and also he said the bearing was shot too.

Anyway, 5 hour job. Done.
Clutch was as light as a feather too with a really low biting point

He did phone me and ask if I'd double checked it was the right part (it's the one linked on here somewhere to ebay from Evans Halshaw Mansfield), because the teeth on the pressure plate were slightly different (raised more I think with a slightly bigger gap).
I said go ahead anyway, Im sure of it.

The squeak has completely gone! The judder has completely gone. There is an occasional little judder though at the biting point, although I assume this is more to do with movement on the engine / mounts / exhaust etc. Only happens very rarely.
And there is IMO, notably a little louder noise from the vehicle. When travelling at 30mph in 4th, with foot on the accelerator, there's a deep rumbling...Foot off and freewheel and it goes. Only happens at certain revs so I'm assuming it's the resonance from a particular frequency due to the lack of DMF absorbing the vibration.

All of a sudden though, my car's asked me twice to top up the coolant. Think a pipe may have been knocked somewhere.

I do have one question. When they do this job, do they have to change the oil at all? I only ask because I've not long since had a fully synthetic oil change done.

If you're sus on the aux. belt had you thought about the clutch on the alternator pulley? I changed the belt a couple of times and the squeaks went away for a short time, then when it was almost perminant the battery light came on & it had melted the cover on the end of the said pulley.

Glad it's sorted Bod. You got a cracking price there too. There would have been no need to touch the engine oil during the work but gearbox oil should have been replaced.

Michael makes a good point about the alternator clutch, mine went too which caused the tensioner to bounce around terribly. Its worth looking out for this when the car is cold especially. Replacement was a crap job as well, it was so tight I ended up grinding the old one off
