307 electric window switch problem

Hi the window switch on the drivers door that operates the passenger window does not work as it should
1:Window up press switch down window goes down
2:Window down pull switch up you can hear the window trying to move but does not come up
3:Use the switch on passenger side and the window goes up
4:Window up pull passenger switch up on drivers door window goes down

Has anyone had the same problem with the switch in both positions only operating the window from closed to open
Any help please

If know has been playing with the wiring and it was all fine before I would get the relay checked. Im sure there not that expensive and you can get them from other parts people.

Thanks for the reply bigdavid but i have just bought the car and have not had time to check out the wiring my get chance at weekend
