06 307 1.6 hdi, spurious error codes?

Hi all,
My normal domain is fiatforum.com. but my cousin has a problem, he is getting an eml and codes showing up on the dash and lots of error codes, we've had the codes read by lots of independent garages and have bought a code reader.
Initially we get:
P1351
P1161
P1351
P0488
P2111
we clear the codes and these come up again:
P0488
P1161
P1351
(these three are recurring, every time)
We've been told by mechanics the egr needs changing (tried it, no change)
We've been told the throttle body (tried, no change)
We were also told the dpf might be blocked (its used daily on the motorway, so its doubtful), a different person with a snapon reader has told us its 33% blocked.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, its driving us round the bend.
