Default timing info hdi

hi all
i've a meridian 2.0 hdi 1999,
problem to start with was part of drive belt came off (common fault apparantly) and part of it went in behind timing cover and knocked the timing out by a tooth or two.
i stripped it down locked crank and timed cam, turned over by hand and bang on every time, turned key and would and is not firing, i have seen a few posts saying time injection and others saying all is controlled via the ecu.
on the pump sprocket cam there are some marks one is like a small strecthed dot and other is a series of dots side by side in twos totalling six i think but i can find no corresponing marks to line up to.
if pump doesn't need timing has anyone got any other ideas to my problem,
i also disconneted battery to charge but my fob button doesn't work so i cannot confirm if a immobiliser has cut in.
although topic has been slighty covered i hope someone may have some fresh ideas before getting somebody out.....and spending some cash ouch
many thanks paul.

You may not have cam/crank sync. It needs to be checked in parameter measurements in Peugeot Planet.

ok thanks i will have a look
i forgot to mention that i will be selling the car if working or scrapping after this as have new one, although i still prefer my old workhorse,
and obviously i think if correct i will have to buy this peugeot planet which would be great if keeping.
if there are not many options around this without diagnostics maybe i'm up the creek eh.
thanks for your guidance davidireland maybe i'll get one of those guys out soon and keep fingers crossed i think there about £40 ish no fix no fee.

all suggestions still welcome.
