Stop light on dashboard

Hi Please can somebody help.

Whilst driving home from London in my 306, 1.4cc 2000 (X) I noticed the STOP light would sometimes come on and stay on a while then go out again, sometimes it would just flash STOP at me, it seemed to be linked to going up hill and down again., ( or maybe I am going GAGA ).

I stopped in the services and checked the oil/water, windscreen washer, brake fluid levels all were fine.

The engine management light has not come on and the car drives fine.

Could somebody produce a list of possible faults that might make the STOP light come on.

Any advice appreciated

sustained highish speeds can cause the engine to get quite warm,then add the uphill into it makes the sensor think 'i'm too hot'.................'no i'm not'..........yes i am....if you get my meaning
