Stalling over 4k revs?

My mates 2.0 HDI engine stalls if its revved over 4k - the only thing that seems to cure this is running it on Sheel V Power Diesel? Is this a common fault thats easily fixed?

if it goes in to limp home mode u might wanna try the egr valve or check the hoses are not split and connected wright for the turbo but without codes i couldent say for sure.

... well thats what is strange - it doesnt go into limp home mode and the EML doesn't come on? It just stalls then after 5 minutes you can restart it and it runs OK again untill 4k~ revs. Im thinking it must be some kind of pump problem?

is any codes stored ? more info of the car year etc
