Could just be a dead battery. The dash lights lighting up don't mean there's enough power to start it. Steal someones and try that first.

Hit it!A good run of battering will sometimes free up a starter! Maybe try bump starting the car then when it's running turn the key to start for a second. Sounds bad but can sometimes free up the starter. Doesn't sound good but you've nothing to lose!

I'd check earthing first, I didn't personally do it, stevo may be able to tell you the technical parts, but my mechanic stuck his hand into the depths of the engine bay and then just got the "earthing cable/strap" and attached it to the nearest metal part of the car.

easier to do that crackin a starter.

First thing to check is the starter motor and solenoid. Then the earthing straps. Use the jumper leads directly to earth the starter and see if it's any better.

I'd also check the starter solenoid and the wiring associated with it.

If it's just sticking though, seriously, hit it! Could be the earthing strap right enough. A jump lead from the battery to the starter earth as said will tell the tale.
