Default Please help some one reply 306 hard to start

well will start now after fitting a new low pressure pump will not tick over unless i turn revs up to around 1200 very hard to start turn key for around 30 sec then fire up when running it changes tune not sure what it is please help

Hello thanks for the reply I brought it as spares or repairs when I got it there was no diesel being pumped from tank pump so thought it was that as I said changed that it will start if you turn it over for about 3 mins then fire up but will not tick over will only stay running if throttle I's held at about 1200 rmp even if I let it warm up when I turn it off it takes ages to start again I didi get some fault codes from it when I 1st brought it back but hasnt shown any since

the memory shoud still have them sounds like fuel blockage or is the timeing right whitch pump did you chainge tank or engine is it 16v hdi ?did thay make a 306 with a hdi what year is it and cc

Hello mate the pump in tank I changed took it out for a test run when I got it started light came on done a test p0230 and p0380 was stored left running for a bit got warm tried moving it and stoped and didn't start again it's a t Reg 2.0 hdi got to be something silly but don't want to spend too much on it would brake it but too good really

Are the fuel lines clogged with swarf from the old pump when it died?

hello thanks for reply diesel is pumping fast just running out of ideas now the code p0380 says glow plug / heater circuit a the other p0230 fuel pump primary circuit any ideas jon

There's your problem p 2030 not reaching optimum fuel pressure the lo press pump is assisting that'd why it takes long time to start and runs erratic have it tested try loosening the main union after the pump mite have air lock
