Idle control valve trouble? s-reg 1.4 petrol

Hi guys,

Just recently my car has been idling very rough and it has progressively got worse until im at the point now where as soon as you come back down to idle after acceleration, the engine almost stalls and falls down to about 400 rpm before coming back upto the normal idle speed of around 750 rpm but then the idle is very rough, almost like a misfire. but the possiblity of misfire is ruled out because it drives, accelerates and performs just as good as it has ever done. this makes me think that its the icv. Any experts on this subect? Is it just a case of taking it out, cleaning it, lubricating it and putting it back in or do i need a new one?
