Default Anti-Freeze for winter questions....

Hello there,

Does anyone know what level/measure/amountg /ratio of anti-freeze should be put into a 306 Meridian to give protection for winter?

Can one measure the amount of anti-freeze in it already? This to avoid adding too much to what is already in it, if you see what I mean!

Sorry, but these days the vehicles I drive are 'sealed systems' whereupon one does'nt touch the coolant system at all.......!

Many thanks,

50%? I've never heard of any other ratio in the UK.

I've owned a couple of MGs and highly recommend the OAT antifreeze if you have the time and money to do a full flush (and I mean FULL because you don't want to mix OAT and non-OAT!) and pay the few quid extra for the orange stuff.

As for measuring, Halfrauds and other car spares shops will probably have a mixture strength tester. But if you don't know when it was last changed, just do it anyway.

Best to just flush it all out and replace with a ready mixed coolant.

This stuff under 'coolant' is whats recommended.
