Smile achy shaky breaks!

Hi everyone this is my 1st post, so ill get on with it

The car is a 1999 1.9 306 diesel estate, i did a small test drive today in it but only at speeds of less than 30mph but, after i bought the car and i went over 30mph the steering wheel shakes real bad under breaking , but only after getting close to 30mph. I paid less than £400 for it got high mileage 198k but other than the breaking problem the car is sound. Any help on this would be massive!!

Likely to be a warped disc - my 306 did it after having the brakes replaced, took it back and had them all checked over again and all was fine. New discs aren't much to do

Deffo sounds like brakes. Do you have discs on front two and drums on back?

My front discs were warped and that juddered the car when I was braking down from like 50 to 20mph.

When i got them done, the bloke opened up the drums too, and as he was doing them he aaid "these have never been opened since the day this left the factory mate" and then just after he opened them he laughed and looked at me and pointed inside... they weren't linked up. Brand new drums, first linked at 160k miles Haha! That's why my fronts were getting done all the time!

hi all peugeot lovers..

been to my local car spares shop today to buy some new discs, he told me it could be a sticking caliper what is causing the problem and to take the discs down to them for them to look at,

i will post back later with some pictures of my little mission to get this dear old pug i bought running without it shakin me to death under breaking

edited to add, if its not the discs what else could it be??

Run your finger around the disc it won't be hard to tell. (careful cos if you've been driving it will be hot) If you have alloys it'll be even easier as you won't have to take the wheel off

I cant see why it would be a sticking caliper as you'd notice the "sticking" without braking

Erm apart from brakes maybe wheel alignment - again you'd notice that without braking

Can't think of anything else mate
