Firstly - great site!
New to site as just aquired a non running 306 1.4 petrol pug on a W REG. I have been given it by mum in law to try and make good and have a few issues for starters. I am no mechanic but have always had a crack of things myself where possible. This is a sort of project for me which will become a 2nd car for the family once fixed but no rush in the meantime! 1. I can get it going after a long charge using my Galaxy but once I turn engine off the thing is dead again and wont start on its own. The battery was put in last winter by someone else (new). 2. There is an obvious petrol leak coming from what I believe is an injector (black plastic item attached to what I believe is fuel rail) - this injector is one of four that enter the back of manifold. Does this injector need changing or is there a fix? 3. The air con / blower wont come on at all - I mean nothing! I have checked all fuses possible and no issues there. Any help (no matter how obvious) on any of these issues would be greatly appreciated. |

It sounds like the battery is knackered (irrespective of it being new'ish or not). Does it hold charge if you take it off and put it on a battery charger ? If the car has been stood about that often happens, especially given the winter we recently experienced. Depends where the injector is leaking from - but it's pretty straight forward to swap it over. Is there any power going to the heater switch/unit - always a good start to check how far the power is going. A common fault with those blowers is with the rectangular connector block which plugs into the blower and powers it. Often with that fault you can kick the passenger footwell and the motor jumps into life for a short time. You need a small pair of long nose pliers to squeeze tighter the individual female spade connectors within the connector block. Once they are a snug fit on the blower should work once again. Many thanks Charlie! Will take all your advise and crack on with it.
One question - how difficult is changing the injector? Is it just one part in - one part out or is there more to it.The fuel literally leaks from it when then engine is on.It doesnt stop engine running though! Thanks again |

Thanks Charlie - downloaded for free! One question - this is the haynes manual for 306 1993 - 1995. Mine is a later model W reg but did they change much anyway?
Thanks again! |

Same as far as I know mate. Might be a couple of minor issues - but the basics are the same
