Hi there, glad I found this forum.
Some kind fella stole my driver's mirror glass so I got a genuine Peugeot replacement from eBay for a fiver. Came to fit it and found that the circular swivel fixture that the glass clips onto is too big, it's a larger diameter than the clip on the mirror glass by about 2mm. Took the glass off the passenger mirror and the swivel fixture is smaller - the right size for both glasses. Also the two mirror fixtures look like two different designs (see photos). I'm confused as I thought all 306 mirrors were essentially the same? My driver's mirror came off a scrapper last year as a lorry hit it, but it has the same markings underneath as the passenger mirror so should be a genuine Peugeot part. If anyone could reflect on this I'd be very grateful

You cheese-fest
![]() I'm not sure if the design is so they are deliberately different therefore easy to put the correct one on, but have you tried seeing if there are two parts to the passenger side connector? EDIT: forget the above bit. But it looks like your drivers side wing mirror has been replaced before?? Also looks like something isn't connected (heated/electric mirrors maybe?) on the drivers side, but IS on the passengers side. I'd double check the fleabay seller has sold you the right part, and maybe go to a scrappy and prang one off the same model as yours to see if your drivers sides match? Take a photo of it too

Couldn't resist that one
![]() Yeah I checked to see if the fixtures are in two parts but they're not, just different designs. There might be something in what you say regarding the sizes being different on purpose, maybe the mirror glass I've got is for a left hand drive 306 as it's a convex mirror as opposed to aspherical (i.e. there's no vertical line). Maybe the driver's mirror always has a bigger fixing, whether it's a LH drive or RH drive. If it's not that then I'm flummoxed. Good idea to check out another 306, some guy's got one down my road so might see if he's up for me pranging one of his mirror glasses off to take a look |

Just chatted with the local Peugeot dealer, he reckons they have a lot of issues with this with 306s and 106s. Turns out Peugeot started using a different mirror supplier at some point and the internals were different - hence the two different designs here. He said the mirror glasses weren't interchangeable, only thing he's suggested before is a complete new mirror. I've known this guy a while and I've no reason to suspect he's trying to pull a fast one (even though I realise that's how it sounds!)
Emailed the ebay seller, see what he says |

Sorted. Looks like the Peugeot dealer was right
![]() Ebay seller had another mirror glass with the bigger fixture so he sent me that as a replacement. Looks like part numbers mean nothing when it comes to this issue - only way we figured out the correct part was to measure the circular mirror internal fixture and the one on the back of the mirror glass. Note the mirror glass circular fixture measurements (outer diameter) were 88mm for the driver's mirror shown here and 79 for the passenger one - thought I'd detail that if anyone else has this issue
