Hi there i have a 1999 peugeot 306 hdi meridian and its lost all its power , when driving i get to about 70 mph and all of a sudden it feels like someone has put the handbrake on and the revs start to die , at first i thought damn my turbos gone , but first id try a few things , i unplugged the mas and it got worse so i think thats fine , next i unplugged the egr sensor and it made it slightly better ie it doesnt do the handbrake thing anymore but still havent got the power to get up the hills like it used to . I can hear the turbo spinning and it pulls ok at low revs ????? Any ideas people ? Do i need to replace egr and sensor ? many thanks lee

Hi lee, difficult without a diagnostic check. Parts expensive so need a fault code before spending out on guess work. Can you get to a code reader? If so post the codes here and we'll be in business.

My friend had this problem, it was the EGR, a pipe wasnt connected to it, poped it on and it was sorted again.

Hi Lee, well that's enough to start with. Are your wiring and connectors in good order? inc. earth points before going further. Glowplugs can be tested with a resistance tester ohms on multimeter. The relay using actuator test on pp2000 or diagbox along with egr valve. Not sure about p0100 or 0903 testing but greater minds aren't far away.

If you need glowplugs/relay/egr valve they will set you back £200 approximately if you shop carefully and fit them yourself.

I'd shop around on Ebay and Euro Car parts to get the best prices.

I did just that Gibbo, got an egr for £93 if i remember correctly of the bay and the Beru plugs off euro/c/parts but the preheating relay is peugeot part so no chance to save on that.
