Default 306 hdi (1999) injector stuck

Hi all, looking for some inspiration...just renewed diesel pump on 306 hdi (1999) and seen smoke and diesel leaking from no 3 injector so need to replace. However...I can't get the old one out! Have tried: Twisting with big spanner, and with little spanner! Mole grips, Slide Hammer - it only moves left to right - no upward motion - soaked in wd40 and diesel - no release! About to pull my hair out...any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Have you had someone try and get some leverage, while it's being twisted?

Also, I'll forewarn you I lost an engine to an injector that wouldn't come out because it wouldn't let go of the sleeve, and thus when it finally gave, it was the sleeve in the head that came out!

Phil

Thank you for your replies - 'philkerman' for your advice, and 'bettyswallocks' for your humour. It's a good job I don't have a delicate disposition, I may otherwise have been scared away completely by your sarcasm! Maybe this is a reason so many leave online forums due to feeling abused!

Just in case anyone is reading this thread for information about cars and engines, with their associated problems, I managed to borrow, yes borrow, a specialist tool made by Sealey (part nos. VS 2056) here's a link : Sealey

So, the very nice man at Peter Haines Engineers has impressed me no end. It did the job in 5 mins - you do have to dismantle the injector to use the tool, but I had already decided the it was leakin diesel and blowing so it had to go anyeay.

I do hope that this can be of use to anyone else out there who is experiencing the same problem.

Hi,

thanks to both who replies - Phil for your help and betty for your sarcasm.

If anyone is interested I manged to borrow the tool required to do the job - from Peter Haines Engineers, a great bunch of lads - didn't know me from Adam, but for a small deposit loaned me the tool.

If it helps it was a Sealey tool nos VS 2056, but is labelled as a Mercedes CDi injector puller. You do have to dismantle the injector, so only useable if you are replacing it. here's the link: Sealey

Hope that helps
